Continuous Improvement is Better than Delayed Perfection
Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection. Mark Twain
Those who are always concerned with how others see them or what other people think of them, handicap themselves. They are afraid to act until they feel that their actions are so close to perfection that others cannot criticize them for their shortcomings.
What these people fail to realize is that people will criticize you no matter what. By worrying about being perfect, you hinder your improvement. Those who delay trying to accomplish their goals because they are waiting on perfection or waiting for everything to be perfect, never reach their objectives.
Instead of worrying about being perfect, simply be okay with the concept of continuous improvement — being better than you were yesterday. This is the philosophy of kaizen. Kaizen means constant, never-ending improvement.
As long as you are seeking continuous improvement, you don’t need to be concerned with perfection; it will come when it comes. All you need to be concerned with is doing your best and continuing to improve day by day.
Continuous improvement is indeed better than delayed perfection, as delayed perfection rarely ever arrives. Be the best that you can be each day, period. If perfection comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, so what; you are still much better than those who wait on perfection to act. Kaizen!
